The Trees for Tuition Scholarship

$40,245 donated to Atlanta students since 2020

The Trees for Tuition Scholarship was started in 2021 and since then has been able to directly award $36,000 to Atlanta high school and college students. Since 2020 Trees for Tuition has donated an additional $4,245 to the Achieve Atlanta Emergency Grant Fund which helps Atl students stay in college who may have otherwise had to drop out. 

Are you a student or parent who wants to apply for the 2022 Trees for Tuition Scholarship? Twelve $2,000 scholarships are available! Apply by June 1st 2023.

Meet Deja!

About

Deja Daniel attended Westlake Highschool located off of Union Rd in Atlanta’s Fulton County. Deja Graduated from Westlake in 2020 with a perfect GPA and is currently attending Washington D.C.’s Howard University. At Howard, Deja is involved in a multitude of organizations and extracurriculars including HUSA public relations and finance departments, the Women’s Chapter, HU Lion’s club chapter and even mentoring local students at Cardazo High School. In her free time, Deja enjoys reading, listening to 90s R&B, Gospel, Hip-Hop, and binge-watching tv series with her brother and father.

Future

After graduation Deja plans to become a bilingual criminal defense attorney. She plans to focus on advocating on behalf of individuals who have faced wrongful convictions. Deja hopes to level the playing field for these innocent defendants so that they are not wrongfully jailed. Deja’s ultimate goal, after years of serving as an attorney, is to become a judge!

We are excited to see how Deja is able to continue making our world a better place after college, can’t wait to see her up on that bench!

Meet Nakiya!

Trees for Tuition Scholar Nakiya White

About

Nakiya White attended South Atlanta High School in the Atlanta Public Schools district. Nakiya graduated in 2022 and plans to attend Alabama State University in the coming semester. Attending and eventually graduating from Alabama state university will make Nakiya a first-generation college graduate by 2026!

Future

After seeing an occupational therapist assist her friend in recovering after a car accident Nakiya has felt drawn to the field. Nakiya is passionate about helping others and plans to earn her degree in occupational therapy with a minor in social work to do just that. Said degree will afford Nakiya the skills to assist disabled and injured people with recovery. Outside of work Nakiya also plans to help other young black women discover and pursue their passions. She hopes to show black women that it’s okay to step outside of their comfort zone and take on careers that were not traditionally designed for them.
